DJ Spinderella.... "Back Spin OZ Tour"

So this weekend was one that I'll remember for a long time, on Saturday I caught up with some friends from school that I haven't seen in years. You know, the type of friends that it doesn't really matter how long you haven't seen each other you just pick up where you left off. These are those friends, girls I've known since grade one, friends I'll have for a long time.

Then on Sunday DJ Spinderella was gracing Brisbane with "The Back Spin" OZ Tour. Now I cant really imagine a better Sunday afternoon then checking out DJ Spinderella doing what she does so well! DJ Spinderella from Grammy award winning trio Salt n Pepper is not only a pioneer in Hip Hop but also and more personally a positive role model. I know for me she showed just what can be achieved,  what a strong, talented, beautiful woman can do.

The Optimen, RAINMAN, BROADKAST, Vegas Aces & Impossible Odds....

Australian Hip Hop has taken off in a big way. With the likes of Bliss N Eso, Horrorshow & Urthboy taking the lead from down south Brisbane Sounds put on a showcase of local talent. On a rainy night on the 9th Oct, these crews came together to show how we do it up in Brisbane.

Impossible Odds are a great crew, they spin tales of better days, of overcoming odds and of social awareness. They're a voice worth listening to.

The Optimen, these guys have had a big year so far, being one of only 60 artists featured in a leading Australian music conference BigSound. Their track 80's Babies is one of my favourites right now, maybe cause I am one but probably because of the Karate Kid line hahaha.

Hungry Kids of Hungary....

Music has the unique ability to break through any barrier no matter what background, social standing, past or present experiences. It doesn't matter who you are or where you're going when you listen to a song and it stops you where you are and you are submerged in it for 3mins. Thats why I love it, love making it, listening to it and now capturing those who perform it. Nothing can fill your heart as quickly or fully as a great song.

Brissy plays host to one of the fastest growing music events. Bigsound is a music industry summit and showcase with three days of panels, workshops and showcases for local, national and international for music industry reps and artists.

At night Bigsound Live is an awesome urban music festival held over 2 nights with over 60 bands at 6 different venus. Pretty much an amazing opportunity to be part of something really special.

Hungry Kids of Hungry were a must see for me, I'd been hearing a lot about them and since they're Brissy boys I wanted to check them out. They're catchy style will pretty much appeal to nearly everyone seeing that they draw their inspiration from a lot of different styles.
